Listen to Walk in The Woods sample

[mp3-jplayer tracks=”A Walk In The Woods@http://billygorilly.com/Media/A-Walk-In-The-Woods_sample.mp3″ captions=”by Billy Gorilly;”]

Are you looking for a simple, inexpensive, cute little craft for the kiddos to make? Let me share this one with you. I designed this project to go along with Billy Gorilly’s “A Walk in the Woods” song. I wanted a fun, easy craft for the kids that would not break the bank. And, I wanted a craft that only used supplies found in most homes and classrooms. I also wanted a craft that features things that Billy Gorilly and his friends see and sing about as they take their imaginary walk in the woods.

So let’s get to it….

Supplies Needed:

Printer Crayons Scissors Pencil to put your topper on

I hope you and the kids have fun making this little craft.

Ladybugs Are Cute

2012 March 24

Ladybugs Are Cute

Spring Fun!

After being cooped up in the house all winter spring is the perfect time to relax, get the kids (and you) outside, breath some fresh air, and have some exploration fun. Take 20-30 minutes out of your day to turn off the tech gear and go for a walk with the kids.

Want to make it a teaching moment? As you walk around point out how the trees and plants are changing. Count the different kinds of flowers you see. Look for snails, bugs, and baby birds. Keep it simple and fun. You don’t want it to be stressful for you or the kids.

If you are lucky you will see a cute little ladybug. Ladybugs, or as some call them lady beetles, are wonderful to have in your gardens because they like to eat pesky insects called aphids. They might even bring you good luck.

When you come back from your walk and you’re hungry for a snack…

Why not make some tasty ladybug apples.

Dream Big – Read!

2012 January 30

It’s that time again!

Kids holding books with moon - Dream Big - ReadIf you are a librarian, teacher, or parent involved with planning a kids summer reading program this is for you. I know some of you have already started planning your summer library program Dream Big – Read, and Billy Gorilly wants to help. Billy has just released his new library theme song “DREAM BIG – READ”

Producing a song to help promote the Summer Library Reading Program is something we have done for the last 6 years. It’s one way we can help and give back to the community. We love the library and all it has to offer families.

The song is 60 seconds long, perfect for your website, blog, radio ad, or anything else you can think of. This year we do not offer a longer version for sale on any CD. If you use the song all we ask for is to give credit to Billy Gorilly.

We also offer a free Dream Big – Read bookmark, reading log, and coloring sheet that can be downloaded from our website BillyGorilly.com.

Mom Comes To The Rescue On A Rainy Day

2012 January 5

It was getting close to the holidays, and even though we were busier than ants in an ant farm, John and I decided to take our friends up on their suggestion that we “come on over for lunch”. Good decision…. it was a beautiful day! We all sat out on the patio talking, laughing, and just enjoying the sunshine. The sun felt especially good after all the rain we’d been having.

One of our friends, who has a couple young kids, was telling us about their rainy Saturday stuck inside the house. She said the kids were pretty bummed about not being able to go outside, and eventually they started getting on each others nerves. But leave it to mom to save the day. With some blankets draped over the re-arranged dining room chairs, all of a sudden they weren’t stuck in the house anymore…. they were camping on top of the mountain they’d just climbed and watching the rain from inside their tent.

I told her how great it was that she taught her kids to look at the bright side. Everyone at the table agreed that we’d all be better off if  people would do that more often. Then John started singing “You’ve got to Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive….” By the time he was halfway through, we were all singing along with the words we knew and improvising the rest. Sometimes with our artsy friends it’s hard to tell the difference between having lunch and doing a Hollywood musical. We never know who is going to start singing or acting out something we are talking about.

One of our other friends, the trivia king, started talking about the different singers who’ve recorded the song. Some liked Bing Crosby, some Aretha Franklin, and some were partial to the punk rock version by The Vindictives. We couldn’t agree on which was the best rendition, but it was unanimous that we all loved the song and it’s message. Then somebody suggested to John that Billy Gorilly should do a version of it. John joked back that he’d run the idea past Billy and see what he had to say.

I guess it was a good idea because Billy Gorilly has a brand new
recording of “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive”.

Take a listen to a sampling of the song
Billy Gorilly – Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive

We love the lyrics to this song and the message it sends. We think it’s a great way for kids (and their grownups) to stay focused on the right things, no matter what’s happening. This song reminds “me” to look at the bright side, even when I’m not quite wanting to.

I call it feel good music because that’s the way it makes me feel when I listen. We hope you enjoy Billy Gorilly’s version of “Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate the Positive”. It’s perfect for both kids and adults.

If you like this song, and think it’s a good message to spread around the world, hit the like button or share with a friend. Please don’t be shy, we love comments too! 🙂

Wishing you Health, Happiness, & Prosperity,

Tamara
