A Little Bit Of Info…

We first produced this song for an E-card that we wanted to send out to our email list. We didn’t imagine at the time so many people would want to use it in their projects. It’s a good feeling knowing this song is bringing joy to people around the world this holiday season. This Jingle Bells song has been used in video games, charity e-cards and promotional videos, college student movies, personal e-cards, animated “Toymation” videos, and now for an NBA team greeting. The piano is played by John Maellaro for the Billy Gorilly character.

As we head into the new year we want to wish everyone Peace, Joy, and Happiness!

Color, Cut, Dazzle – Simple Craft for Kids

2011 December 3

Stop! Don’t throw out that coloring page your child just finished. Turn it into something special like a window mobile, gift tag, or tree ornament.

First pick out a suitable coloring page. We used this December coloring page that you can download here

Let the kiddos have fun coloring.

****** let’s gestarted making our craft *******

First cut out each image as shown below.

Now we want to back our images with colored card stock to give them stiffness and durability. Note: You can also print out the coloring page on card stock and omit this step.

Glue card stock to image then trim the colored card stock close to image or leave some showing, like the December image above. See the back of the image below.

Want to make it dazzle? Add some glitter glue or other embellishments.

Punch a hole in the top of snowman, hot cocoa cup, and tree. Use pipe cleaners, ribbon, or string and thread through hole.

To make the window mobile you will also need to punch 3 holes in the December piece as shown below

Use the tags for the mobile, or as Tree ornaments. I wish I had a tree here to hang the ornament on to show you what they would look like. You will have to use your imagination.

Or you can use them as Gift Tags. Write the name on the back of the tag and tie with a pretty ribbon or string.

****** Pretty Cute, Don’t You Think? – Color, Cut, Dazzle *******

We hope you and the kids enjoy this sweet and simple holiday craft.

December Coloring Page

2011 November 29

It’s starting to get cold outside and coloring makes a great indoor activity. We would like to share this December coloring page with you. Coloring is a great quiet activity for the kids to do when they can’t go outdoors and play. Coloring can also be a relaxing activity for adults too. Turn off the computer or TV, sit down with the little ones, and color away as you sip your favorite warm beverage. Kids feel important and loved when mom or dad works along side of them.

Have Your Turkey 3 Ways – Pencil Topper, Card, Coloring Page Deluxe

2011 November 19

Thanksgiving Turkey Crafts
For Kids

We’re getting ready to celebrate thanksgiving by making a card, pencil topper, and working on a multimedia coloring page.

These turkey crafts are easy and inexpensive. Grandma and Grandpa would love to get a turkey card from the kids.

A simple coloring page can become a work of art by using crayons, torn paper, and seed beads.  Tip – Cut the picture out and use in your family scrapbook.

A cute  little turkey topper on a glittery pencil is sure to give the little ones a smile. They can use their new pencil with the turkey on top to write a note in the card. How fun is that.

Let’s Make A Turkey Card Download and Print Template

This is so simple. All you have to do is print out turkey card template, cut the template out, glue onto card stock and you’re done. Of course you can make it fancier if you like.

Supplies for 1 or 2 Cards:
1 – Piece of 8.5 x 11 in. white card-stock to print images or use plain printer paper
1 – Piece of 8.5 x 11 in. color card-stock
Tape or glue
Scissors or paper cutter
Embellishments as desired.
On the card shown above we also used glitter, and foam tape, to pop up the turkey chest and head area. We also cut out the words Happy Thanksgiving and mounted them on a strip of green paper see in picture above.

1. Print images on card-stock

2. Cut out turkey card images

3. Cut 8.5 x 11 coordinating color card-stock
in half horizontally to make
two 5.5 in. tall x 8.5 in. wide pieces

4. Fold color card-stock in half.
Score paper first if you have a scorer.

5. Tape or Glue Turkey to front of card and your done

Pretty easy don’t you think?

Download and Print Template

1. Cut out a turkey from the card template as shown in the picture above.

2. Fold the turkey in half and cut slits as shown in picture

3. Carefully slide the turkey onto the pencil and you are done

You can add glitter or other embellishments as desired. We kept it very simple. the only thing we did was cut the feathers a bit to give our little guy some feathery style.

2011 November 8

This adorable video was sent to us by a mom, and fan of Billy Gorilly. She said her son Daniel, loves when she puts on Billy Gorilly music. The Days of the Week song you hear in the background can be found on the Rockin’ The SchoolHouse, Vol. 2 audio CD. Daniel, might not be old enough to hold a pencil or crayon yet, but he can listen and learn.

Recipe and Coloring Page – Autumn Apple Picking

2011 October 21

Let’s Go Apple Picking

This is the time of year when many families go apple picking. I have many fond memories of picking apples with my family when I was little.

I thought I would share with you a coloring page of two kids carrying a basket of apples they just picked.

And to keep in the spirit of things I wanted to share a recipe for Baked Apples. This old fashioned recipe will fill your home with  smells of cinnamon and nutmeg, much better than air freshening spray. The kids can help make them, and they make a wonderful snack.

If you are a teacher or parent looking for more Autumn themed coloring pages and activities you can find them on our website here.

Billy Gorilly, even has a story called “The Season Sisters” on his Rockin’ the SchoolHouse, vol.1 series, to help children learn about the different seasons.

Easy Baked Apple Recipe

Print Recipe

Ingredients:
•    2 baking apples like Granny Smith, firm apples work best
•    1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
•    1/3 cup raisins or dried cranberries
•    1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
•    pinch of nutmeg
•    2 teaspoons butter

Preparation:
Wash and core apples, then remove a 1 inch strip of peel around the middle of each apple; place in a 1-quart shallow baking dish. Combine sugar, raisins, cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar in a small bowl; fill the center of each apple with some of the cinnamon mixture and dot each apple with  the butter. Add just enough water to baking dish to cover the bottom of the dish; bake, uncovered, at 350° for about 30 minutes, or until apples are tender. Baste with juices occasionally. Serve warm. Of course you can add a dollop of whip cream for added sweetness
